Indias First Centre of Excellence in Online Gaming to be set up in Shillong (GS Paper 3, Economy)

Why in news?

  • Digital India Startup Hub through the Software Technology Parks of India shall set up India’s first Centre of Excellence in Online Gaming at Shillong by March 2023, said the Ministry of Electronics & IT.
  • The Centre of Excellence in Shillong is expected to catalyse startups and entrepreneurs from the entire North East Region to build the Next Gen Online Gaming ecosystem.

 

Digital Skills:

  • Another initiative of MeitY to set up a state-of-the-art facility under the National Institute of Electronics and IT (NIELIT) to provide training on cutting edge Digital Skills at Shillong was announced.
  • A 10-acre campus shall soon be ready for this purpose which shall cater to the skilling requirement of youth in the North East Region.

 

What’s next?

  • The Government is Re-launching Skill India through PMKVY 4.0, which shall train around 50,000 youth in Meghalaya in future ready skills with Industry backed Job Opportunities.
  • As far as other states in the North East Region are concerned; the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship under PMKVY4.0 has set a target to skill around 60,000 youth in Tripura and 35,000 in Nagaland across a spectrum of approved courses. 

 

Gadkari unveils Surakshit Safar initiative, aim to reduce accidents by 50%

Why in news?

  • Recently, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways  unveiled 'Surakshit Safar', an initiative by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in association with Rosmerta Technologies Limited.
  • The end-to-end mobility solutions showcased in the Surakshit Safar pavilion by Rosmerta varied from production and commercial stage to eco-friendly scrapping.

ATS model:

  • Credited to launch the very first Automated Testing Centre (ATS) in India, Rosmerta staged the established ATS model on the floor showcasing an automated inspection design integrating the test equipment as a holistic digital road safety solution along with specialized vehicle test lane management software for vehicle fitness certification, without human intervention. This model is already executed in 9 states.

 

ADTT:

  • Apart from this, Rosmerta Automatic Driving Test Track (ADTT) was another interactive mobility solution to evaluate driving skills based on video analytics and sensors-based technology.
  • It is an end-to-end automated solution based on image processing in real-time for reliable and high-accuracy results, without any human intervention.
  • The driving skills of the applicants were evaluated on-site with respect to kerb hit (vehicle moving out of track), a number of forward, reverse and stoppage, wrong direction as well as the duration of the test, flashing the results in real-time on the display screen.

 

LIVE PUC testing:

  • Rosmerta plays a pivotal role in simplifying compliance requirements through digitized journeys of more than 100,000 vehicle registrations on behalf of the end customer in 28 states and union territories in India.
  • The Pollution Under Control (PUC) station at Surakshit Safar pavilion displayed LIVE PUC testing and certification by direct communication with the equipment without any interference from the operator to mitigate the fake emission data.
  • The web-based application developed by the company for pollution control checks enables seamless vehicle testing and data syncing on the VAHAN portal with quick access to important PUC information and vehicle details.
