19th Edition of Divya Kala Mela Celebrates Inclusivity and Empowerment (GS Paper 2, Fairs & Festivals)

- The 19th Divya Kala Mela was inaugurated by Governor Shri S. Abdul Nazeer in Visakhapatnam, accompanied by Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar and other esteemed guests.

Financial Initiatives for Empowerment
- In a significant move towards fostering financial independence, the mela provided concessional loans totaling ₹40 lakh to 10 Divyang beneficiaries.
- These loans, facilitated by the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC), aim to support individuals with disabilities in launching or expanding their businesses, helping them achieve greater autonomy and success.
A Showcase of Talent
- The mela features the incredible talents of over 100 Divyang artisans hailing from 20 states and Union Territories.
- Visitors can explore a diverse array of products, including handicrafts, handlooms, and packaged foods.
- This initiative aligns with the government’s “Vocal for Local” campaign, which emphasizes boosting the local economy by promoting handmade products, thus aiding artisans in their journey toward financial self-sufficiency.

- The fair runs from September 19 to 29, open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Marine Ground, Andhra University.
